How to Clean the Print Head?
July 27,2022
To reduce the wear of the print head, attention should be paid to:
- Clean the print head frequently. To keep the performance of the print head in the best state, the print head should be cleaned after a roll of carbon tape or a roll of the label is printed.
- Use carbon tape with good lubricity back coating, which can minimize friction.
- On the premise of obtaining the best printing effect, adjust the print head pressure and print temperature to the minimum.
- Make sure that the width of the heat transfer ribbon is enough to cover the label to prevent the print head from directly contacting the label with greater friction.
Method of cleaning the print head
Before handling and cleaning the print head, remove substances that may scratch the print head, and use anti-static rings or anti-static pads to release static electricity that may damage the print head.
- Turn off the printer and turn on the print head.
- Gently blow off the dust and fiber dust on the printing device, such as the paper roller, label sensor, carbon belt sensor, and print head. Never use any hard, metal, abrasive tools (such as a screwdriver) to scrape the sticky dirt or other debris on the print head.
- Use a cleaning pen or cotton swab dipped in solvent (alcohol with a concentration of more than 95%), press and hold the front end of the cleaning swab close to the print head, and always wipe the print head from side to side. Repeat the above steps until there is no stain on the cleaning swab.
- Rotate the paper pressing roller, remove the dust on the paper pressing roller, and repeat the above steps until there are no more stains on the cleaning label.
Instructions for cleaning the print head
Most inkjet printers will automatically clean the print head after startup, and there are buttons to clean the print head. Please refer to the steps in the inkjet printer operation manual for specific cleaning operations. If the automatic cleaning function of the printer is invalid, the print head can be cleaned manually. For manual cleaning, disassemble the print head according to the steps in the operation manual.
For manual cleaning of the print head, a thin rubber tube can be sleeved at the front end of the medical syringe and washed with strictly filtered water. When washing, carefully observe the spray hole with a magnifying glass. If there is silted residue next to the spray hole, it can be removed with soft rubber products.
The spray hole of the integrated print head that has been left unused for a long time is blocked due to the drying up of the ink. It can be washed after soaking in hot water.
The following points should be paid attention to when cleaning the print head:
- Do not use sharp objects to clean the nozzle, do not hit the nozzle, and do not touch the nozzle with your hands.
- Do not disassemble or install the nozzle when it is electrified. Do not touch the electrical contacts of the printing cart with your hands or other objects.
- Do not remove the nozzle from the printer and place it separately. Do not put the nozzle in a dusty place.
